Get Involved
We're building this from the ground up. No paid staff, no corporate backing — just Iowans who decided to show up. We need you, too.
Where We Need Help Right Now
We're in our founding phase, which means the people who step up now will shape everything that comes next. You don't need to be an expert — you need to care about Iowa and be willing to contribute your time and skills.
Nonprofit Administration
Help set up the systems that will sustain ICAN for years — board development, compliance, strategic planning, and organizational management.
Communications & Outreach
Shape how Iowa hears about cannabis reform. Write newsletters, manage social media, build media relationships, and craft messaging that resonates across party lines.
Community Organizing
This is how we win — person by person, county by county. Coordinate events, build coalitions with partner organizations, and turn supporters into advocates.
Policy & Advocacy Research
Track bills in the Iowa General Assembly, research how other states have handled reform, prepare policy briefs, and arm our advocates with the facts they need.
Digital Content
Create educational content, design graphics, produce videos, and help ICAN reach Iowans where they already spend their time — online.
General Administrative
Data entry, event logistics, correspondence, filing — the unglamorous work that makes everything else possible. Every hour you give matters.
Financial Contributions
Every dollar goes directly to the work: legislative advocacy, public education, the Victory Garden Initiative, and building the infrastructure Iowa's cannabis reform movement needs. We have no paid staff — your contribution stretches further here than almost anywhere.
As a 501(c)(4) organization, contributions to ICAN are not tax-deductible as charitable donations under IRC §170. However, they may be deductible as ordinary business expenses under IRC §162. Consult your tax advisor.
To contribute, email hello@iowacannabisaction.org or call 515-412-0511. We'll follow up within 48 hours with details and a formal acknowledgment.
